Rated 1 out of 5 by TimB from Looks good but the cartridge becomes loose This is my second Greys QRS reel, the first was replaced by the excellent service team very quickly and without any hassle. However the replacement has developed exactly the same fault ! After a few weeks usage the cartridge locking mechanism will not keep the spool in place during use. You insert the cartridge, lock it in place, and start to use it. Within a few minutes, the cartridge has unlocked itself and rattles around. The only solution is to try and reseat it again while your line is in water. Others have reported this problem too and I agree it’s a major design problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Pitchroy Boy from Serious Design Flaw Within the first half hour of Spey Casting with the QRS 9/10/11/12 the spool had worked loose within the reel cage. The small red sliding lever that locks the cassette spool in place had come open and the spool was rattling around. Fixed the problem and within half an hour it had done it again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Babs Craig from Always wanted a cassette reel.. 9/12 model Always wanted one.. till i get one. 1st issue i found is pulling line off to start casting, spool over runs as you cant "palm" it" with the cage around it. But got round that by not loosening the brake too much. 2nd issue, you can't palm the reel when you have a fish on a big run due to the design of the cage around the spool. 3rd issue has emerged 4 days before I go Wels Cat fishing this weekend! The brake at full lock.. still lets me pull line off, a 80lbs Catfish will not feel anything holding it back! So I can not use this reel bought specially for Pike, big cats or Nile perch (Yes I fish for them too!)! Other than the 2 things above, it all works. easy to swap spools. Maybe all good for smaller fish, but no good for the big uns.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bibio55 from Mmmmm not so good I bought this reel as a replacement for my old GRX Greys reel. I thought the QRS looked good and it does but its a bit substance over matter. I have had a huge problem of the reel over running on numerous occasions which is rubbish. Quickly taking more line off for a longer cast and your are in a mess. Its just too sensitive one click the wrong way and you are stuffed. Its a shame I never had this problem with my previous reel(s) Sorry Greys a waste of money

Rated 2 out of 5 by Silver nicker from Like the reel but it has an issue The reel is fine, great spool system plenty of room for backing, tolerances between Cade and spoil acceptable for the price. The drag works well enough for uk reservoir fishing, However all the good points are marred by one particular fault, the spool catch does not stay locked and so it comes loose on a regular basis during a days fishing, shame as I really do like the reel and the concept☹️

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dugald1962 from Poor fitting parts I have the same problem the reel parts mate poorly and even when I tighten together as much as I can there is still a gap where the line guard catches the fly line, not recommended

Rated 1 out of 5 by HomerLoneII from Suspect design Purchased a few months ago, as I liked the idea of the easily interchangeable spools. Unfortunately the spool locking mechanism does not function at all well. After a few casts the spool comes loose, leaving the spool rattling around. The shop I purchased it from attempted to tighten the mechanism, but with no success.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BRAIN from poor design feature fault purchased in oct 2018 fished upto june this year . The locking ring tab broke off had to use a needle to rotate the ring when changeing spools contacted pure fishing replaced witin 3 days with extra 4 spools very good after service but believe the locking ring tab should be metal not fibre a typical error of judgement in material used for the most used part of the reel not made in ENGLAND THE QUESTION I WOULD ASK IS WHO DESIGNED IT
