History
1968
Founded in 1968 as ‘Greys of Alnwick’ by passionate angler Malcolm Grey, the company quickly forged a strong reputation with anglers by launching a range of high performance mid-market fly rods.
1999
The House of Hardy acquired Greys of Alnwick in 1999 after identifying a strategic opportunity to compete in complementary areas of the tackle market.
2003
The significance and value of the Greys brand to anglers and to the House of Hardy was recognised in 2003 when the House of Hardy was renamed Hardy & Greys Ltd.
2012
Technology remains critical to the Greys brand. In 2012, the launch of the Toreon ‘nano' particle carp rods solidified its reputation for applying innovation to create a performance advantage for the angler.
2013
In 2013, Greys became part of the Pure Fishing family, invigorating a focus on global market presence and maximising the technical expertise for which the Greys brand is known.
2015
Greys acquired the Powerlux license from 3M to start manufacturing rod blanks utilising this ground breaking material. This has allowed the Greys brand to cement their status as leaders in the mid-price point rod market.
