The Greys Brand
At Greys we only know how to do things one way, without compromise. We know times are tough and yet we must still demand the best from our fishing tackle. The best design and the best materials - that's Greys.
Founded in 1968 as ‘Greys of Alnwick’ by passionate angler Malcolm Grey, the company quickly forged a strong reputation with anglers by launching a range of high performance mid-market fly rods.
The House of Hardy acquired Greys of Alnwick in 1999 after identifying a strategic opportunity to compete in complementary areas of the tackle market.
The significance and value of the Greys brand to anglers and to the House of Hardy was recognised in 2003 when the House of Hardy was renamed Hardy & Greys Ltd.
Technology remains critical to the Greys brand. In 2012, the launch of the Toreon ‘nano' particle carp rods solidified its reputation for applying innovation to create a performance advantage for the angler.
In 2013, Greys became part of the Pure Fishing family, invigorating a focus on global market presence and maximising the technical expertise for which the Greys brand is known.
Greys acquired the Powerlux license from 3M to start manufacturing rod blanks utilising this ground breaking material. This has allowed the Greys brand to cement their status as leaders in the mid-price point rod market.
